- Fill the bucket so the water inside matches the pool’s water level outside — same height, same exposure to sun and air.
- Mark both levels: a strip of tape inside the bucket, another on the bucket’s outside or the tile for the pool.
- Run the pool normally for 24 hours, then compare. Evaporation affects both marks equally.
